Book

A book - is one of the most magnificent things in the world. There are a lot of books in the world - more than one person can ever imagine.
I like books and the more I live the more I realize that I am obsessed with things - especially books. When I open my eyes in the morning all what I see is books.

Books in my room

There are no more place in my room to make a shelf for books.
In 2002-2004 (about this time) dad and me made bookshelves at one of the walls and there is no more place to put books in there. We also made a bookshelves behind my computer in 2006. And I had 5 shelves when I was little - they are still here. And the sixth was used for toys and now it is on the locker and full of history books and some school books.
I plan on giving some books away this summer. I don't know yet - maybe I will sell some of them or present.
By the way, I know where is every book that I have in my room. So this is not a problem to find a book. But it is much worse with other stuff.

Reading books

I am a lazy reader. That means that I read books when I have to or when I want to read them and this does not happen every day. Though, I claim that I am obsessed with books.
And I am a thoughtful reader. That means that I read books slowly, reread some parts and think about every step that author takes in the plot. I do not like to read books randomly, I read them from the beginning to the end. I can mess some parts but then I read the whole book (See Lord of the Rings for an exception).

Books Dreams

Sometimes I dream of sitting in the big armchair with a plaid (with a tartan pattern) over my legs and holding a book in my hands. Ah, and a mug of hot beverage by my hand. And maybe some chocolate or fruits.
When I have money I will have a library or a bookstore (if I won't have so much money). And if I will not have money for this I will work in the library or a bookstore or I will go there frequently. If I'm not so busy with something what I also like.
I am going to be a writer. Once Mrs. Kauffman (an English teacher in school) asked me whom I wanted to be when I grow up and I told her I wanted to be a writer. And she asked me whether I wanted to be like some famous writer. I said that I would like to be like H. Murakami and as almost nobody in my class knew who he was but for Mrs. Kauffman and a few classmates she told something like "he has his readers" and that he is a man. And I told her that I knew it and I really want to be like him not like women authors. Now I think of taking some male pseudonym because I write as a man sometimes. I have been thinking about Emmanuel Blackwell.

Family stories

About my grandfather

My grandfather (a father of my dad), who was an artist, at the end of his life spent more money on books than on food. Or so it seemed.
He gave me a few books. Here is the list:

  • Russian poetry of the 19th - beginning of the 20th century;
  • Art books - Art of Japan in Middle Ages, Italian Art
  • A few books about the life of two Russian artists and two French artists.

The doctor case

Once, when I was ill and the doctor came to our house as soon as he glanced at our walls and shelves he told that we are a family of scientists. And mom asked why did he think so and he answered that there were too many books in rooms, so that he decided we were a scientists family.

How I get books

  1. I steal them. Really.
  2. I borrow them and do not give back. Like with my chemistry and other school books.
  3. My parents give me books to read and ask me to keep them. That is mean somehow. So I go in their room and put some books on their shelves.
  4. I buy books. I love bookstores. And sometimes I buy books just because I am sad or because the book is cheap or because I simply want the book.
  5. I receive them as a present. Not so frequently, though.
  6. I take them from my grandma's house and have no time to read them so they still are somewhere in my room. By the way, I know where.
